Discovering Healing Pathways through Native Wellness, Fort Collins, CO, June 12 & 13, 2015

Join us for a two-day experiential workshop incorporating non-western indigenous methods of healing facilitated by Elizabeth Warson, PhD and Lakota spiritual leaders Ricky Gray Grass  and Waylon Black Crow. Participants will learn about the principles of indigenous healing, experience holistic outlook of Native wellness models, and explore implications for practice in a variety of settings. This event is co-sponsored by American Indian Art Therapy, Inc and Healing Pathways, LLC.

Registration fee & payment: $250 for June 12 & 13 (9am-4:00pm) and includes handouts, experiential materials, and art supplies (lunch on your own). No early bird rate is available.  Full-time students may request a reduced fee ($200) with a written request and verification emailed to elizabeth@healingpathwaysllc.com. Additional Information: A certificate of attendance will be provided upon completion of the two day event (continuing education units/credits cannot be offered at this time). One week before the workshop, handouts and an itinerary will be submitted electronically to the email address provided. Join us at the beautiful BP Center in Anchorage Alaska for this three-day course presenting the foundations of trauma-informed practice and the latest research and approaches to expressive arts and play, stress reduction and resilience. Participants will learn art therapy and expressive arts therapy strategies and applications to increase their understanding of trauma-informed approaches, enhance resilience in various client populations and reduce stress responses to trauma and loss. Participants will engage in a variety of hands-on experiences using mind-body, mindfulness, wellness and strength-based best practices grounded in emerging research. The essential practices presented in this course can be applied to individuals of all ages and families, groups and communities from a culturally-responsive, trauma-informed approach. By attending the entire three days, participants will learn:

1)    the five components of trauma-informed practice;

2)    at least five arts-based methods used in culturally responsive, trauma-informed intervention;

3)    at least three reasons why sensory-based, arts interventions are essential to reducing the body’s response to stress;

4)    at least five aspects that enhance resilience through culturally responsive, trauma informed intervention;

5)    at least seven ways to apply course material to work with families, groups or communities that have experienced acute trauma, chronic trauma or intergenerational trauma.
