E.Qi Solstice & Equinox Gatherings

Our E. Qi Team

Who we are

Our E.Qi Team is a dynamic and passionate group, each bringing a unique skill set and deep expertise to the work we do together. Our team is dedicated to creating transformative experiences through the integration of Equine Therapy, Qigong, and Expressive Arts Therapy, particularly during the sacred times of the Solstices and Equinoxes.

  • Sifu Kurtis Tilley, LMT brings a wealth of experience as a Licensed Massage Therapist and a seasoned Qigong instructor. With his background in Chinese medicine and bodywork, Kurtis helps guide us in the cultivation of Qi, or life force energy, through gentle movement, breathwork, and mindful awareness. His approach emphasizes body awareness and energy flow, aligning the physical and energetic bodies. Kurtis offers a grounded presence, teaching us how to balance and harmonize our energy with the natural world, especially during the powerful shifts of the Solstices and Equinoxes.
  • Kyla Howard, our Equine Specialist, has an incredible connection with horses and a deep understanding of their therapeutic potential. Kyla works with the horses in a way that encourages emotional regulation and self-awareness. Horses, with their natural sensitivity to human emotions, offer powerful, non-verbal interactions that help us connect more deeply with our bodies and emotions. Kyla creates a safe space for individuals to explore their emotional landscapes with the horses, fostering a profound connection to both nature and self. Her knowledge of equine behavior and her gentle guidance allow for meaningful and healing experiences with these incredible animals.
  • Dr. Elizabeth Warson, our Equine-Assisted Psychotherapist, brings a clinical background and deep insight into the therapeutic potential of horses in mental health. With her expertise in equine-assisted psychotherapy, Elizabeth helps individuals process trauma, enhance emotional regulation, and navigate personal challenges in a safe, supportive environment. Her work integrates talk therapy with the wisdom and healing power of the horses, creating a truly unique therapeutic experience. Elizabeth helps guide clients through emotional release and self-discovery, using the horses to facilitate deep reflection and insight.

Together, we form a holistic team dedicated to guiding individuals through profound healing journeys. Through our combined practices, we help people reconnect with their bodies, emotions, and spirits, while aligning with the natural rhythms of the Earth. Whether we are practicing Qigong, engaging with the horses, or expressing ourselves through the arts, our goal is to create a space for reflection, healing, and transformation that aligns with the cycles of nature.

With our collective knowledge and expertise, we offer a truly unique experience where the mind, body, and spirit can come into harmony, especially during the powerful transitions of the Winter Solstice, Summer Solstice, and Equinoxes. Together, we guide participants on a path of self-discovery, renewal, and empowerment.

What is E.Qi?

As we step into the quiet embrace of nature during the Winter Solstice or Equinox, we feel a shared sense of anticipation—a knowing that these celestial moments, where the Earth’s cycles shift and realign, offer us a collective invitation to pause, reflect, and reconnect with something greater than ourselves. When we blend the practices of equine therapy, Qigong, and expressive arts therapy in this sacred space, it becomes a deeply transformative experience for all of us. Each practice brings its own unique gifts, but when woven together, they create a powerful, harmonious flow that invites healing, self-discovery, and balance.

Equine Therapy

Equine Therapy is often the first doorway through which we step. The horses are always present, their steady, grounded energy offering a profound mirror to our own. Horses have an incredible sensitivity to human emotions; they feel what we feel, sometimes even before we do. As we interact with them, whether through gentle touch, movement, or simply being in their presence, we are invited to become more attuned to our own emotional states. The connection with the horses is non-verbal, yet it speaks volumes, urging us to become more aware of our bodies, our breath, and the subtle shifts in our energy. During the Solstice or Equinox, when nature is at the peak or turning point of a cycle, these moments of transition in the horses’ energy seem to resonate deeply with our own inner shifts. They help us align with the natural rhythms of the world around us.

Qigong

Qigong feels like a gentle dance with the elements. This ancient practice of movement, breathwork, and meditation is designed to cultivate the flow of Qi—life force energy—through the body. During the Solstices and Equinoxes, we are especially aware of how these times mark powerful transitions in the cycle of nature. The Winter Solstice, in particular, feels like a quiet invitation to welcome the return of light. Moving slowly and intentionally through Qigong, we are reminded that each breath, each movement, can help balance our energy. The outdoor practice, surrounded by the stillness of nature, allows us to tune into the energy of the Earth and the seasons. The flow of Qi feels especially potent when we synchronize our movements with the shifting energies of the world around us—whether we are welcoming the fullness of light during the Summer Solstice or embracing the quiet return of light during the Winter Solstice.

Expressive Arts Therapy

Expressive Arts Therapy provides a rich avenue for creativity and release. Whether we are painting, writing, or journaling, the creative process helps us externalize what we’ve been holding inside. There’s something sacred about creating in nature, particularly when the seasons are changing and the Earth is reflecting both the cycles of life and the impermanence of time. As we sit with the wind, the trees, or the quiet snow, we often feel compelled to create from the depths of our being. The artwork that emerges is not just a reflection of our inner worlds, but also a form of honoring the natural cycles—the death, the stillness, and the rebirth that happens year after year. Nature becomes both a muse and a mirror, guiding us toward deeper self-understanding.

Why E.Qi?

Together, these practices create a holistic experience—a fusion of mind, body, and spirit that resonates with the profound rhythms of the Earth. Celebrating the Solstice or Equinox in nature becomes a sacred ritual, a way to align with the cycles of life. In the quiet of the season’s transitions, we can feel ourselves come into balance, renewed and empowered, with a deep sense of connection to the world around us.
In this space, we are reminded that the cycles of nature mirror the cycles within ourselves. Through equine therapy, Qigong, and expressive arts, we find a pathway to healing and transformation—one that aligns us not only with the Earth’s rhythms but also with our own inner rhythms. It is an invitation to pause, reflect, and reconnect—to honor both the passage of time and the profound wisdom of the natural world.
